Czech Republic Appointing New Ambassador to Moscow
The Czech Republic is getting set to appoint a brand new ambassador to Moscow, President Petr Pavel said when addressing the country’s national broadcaster Czech Television on Sunday, according to Radio Prague International.
This development comes as the former Czech ambassador to Moscow, Vítězslav Pivoňka was officially recalled by the Czech Republic government back in May of this year, but the name of the person who will succeed him has not been publicly announced at the time of this writing.
While speaking, President Petr Pavel said that the process of agreement or official consent from Russia could take months or even a year to complete but appeared to be initially reserved about the appointment of a Czech Republic ambassador to Moscow.
“The impetus for me was that the process that should lead to peace in Ukraine has begun. It started with the peace conference in Switzerland,” President Petr Pavel said, per the report.

Czech, Hungarian, Austrian Parties Forming “Patriots of Europe” faction in European Parliament
Andrej Babiš’ ANO party, Viktor Orbán’s Fidesz party and Austria’s far-right FPÖ have officially announced the formation of a joint alliance within the European Parliament that will be called “Patriots of Europe”.
“We have three main priorities that we share and that unite us – defence of sovereignty, the fight against illegal migration and opposition to the Green Deal,” Mr. Babiš said in an official announcement.
Things are not officially until a process is completed. The new Patriots of Europe alliance will need the support of parties from four other European Union states before it can be recognized as an official group in the European Parliament, so there is a road to travel.
According to Radio Prague International, Babis discussed that it is important to strengthen the sovereignty of each member state, for Brussels’ migration policy to change and also stressed the important of the protection of the EU’s external borders to be strengthened.
How this plays out remains to be seen, but stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
